About John
 John Carmichael grew up in Toronto, and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences from the University of Western Ontario. He went on to serve as Chairman and CEO of City Buick Pontiac Cadillac GMC Ltd. This company has been family-owned and operated for 55 years, helping John to gain a strong understanding of the families and businesses in the community. Just like many other organizations today, John’s business has faced challenges. However, he has been able to face the economic downturn head on and has kept his family-owned operation successful.
John takes pride in his strong commitment to community and family. Public service is important to John and he has volunteered extensively around Toronto including serving as a member of the North York General Hospital Foundation Board, and as the past President of Rowing Canada and Director of the Canadian Olympic Committee.
John has also served as the Conservative candidate for Don Valley West since 2006 and believes he would be a strong voice for the riding in Ottawa.
John and his wife Kerry currently reside in Toronto and have three grown children, Christin, Michael and Julie. They are also proud grandparents to John, MacKenzie and Harrison.
