Carmichael takes 50 children to see The Nutcracker
December 28, 2009
"It was awesome! "

"What a fantastic evening!"

"What a nice gesture by Mr. Carmichael!"

These were just a few of the comments heard on Wednesday, December 16 at the National Ballet’s performance of The Nutcracker in Toronto.

Local business man John Carmichael, owner and CEO of City Buick Chevrolet Cadillac GMC, and Federal Conservative candidate for Don Valley West, took 50 children to see the traditional family Christmas show which has thrilled audiences of children for years.

“I just felt that there are a lot of children in our community who would enjoy this wonderful show, but who otherwise wouldn’t have been able to have the experience” stated Carmichael. “Seeing the look on the children’s faces made it all worthwhile”.

John Carmichael and his wife Kerry were joined by Cila Kent, wife of the Honourable Peter Kent, Minister of State of Foreign Affairs (Americas), and by Member of Parliament, Lois Brown.

“Having the privilege of watching a brilliant performance of The Nutcracker among this group of children made the evening seem magical. Hats off to the Carmichaels for making possible a most enjoyable and memorable experience for the children and myself” said MP Lois Brown (Newmarket-Aurora).

Tickets were offered to community groups and public schools in Thorncliffe Park and Flemingdon Park who then arranged for distributing them to the children.
